The Revolutionary act of feeling safe and content

Reverence Events Perth

In a culture where we experience capitalism on steroids on a
daily basis – and whereby the most effective selling tools are fear and
discontentment…cultivating the skill of deliberately feeling safe and
content is revolutionary.

Safety and Contentment

Willow and I were sitting in our meditation space this morning. The sun still hadn’t crested the horizon and the day was deliberating whether to choose blue or grey from its cosmic wardrobe.

We were still. Listening on audio to Michael Singer’s latest book “Living Untethered”.

We have been finding value from his work for a number of years now. There is a humour, irreverence and depth to his offerings which we love.

This morning, he was talking about the power of Mantra to assist us to shift our focus when the mind has grabbed onto a negative thought process and/or the heart has been triggered into an uncomfortable state.

Mantra in this context, meaning any word really, that you repeat over and over in your mind to maintain a positive focus until the intensity of the moment eases up.

Some use specific religious or spiritual words or phrases, which do have inherent power – but there is one phrase that he suggested this morning that sparked a discussion between Willow and I.

“I am always just fine.”

This matched the two feeling states that Willow and I have recently been working with via a tool from the HeartMath institute called Attitude Breathing.

Safe and Content

Breathe in the feeling of safety, imagining that you are breathing it in through your heart and chest area. Nice and slow and deep.

Then you breathe out the feeling of contentment, imagining or pretending that you are breathing out through the solar plexus (found by following the line of the bottom of your rib cage in to the centre).

Keep the breathing up and really focus on genuinely feeling the feelings.

Focusing on the heart and the solar plexus brings soothing changes through your whole nervous system. This not only supports a speedier settling of emotion and thought, but also starts to re-pattern baseline conditioning to make new these feeling states more familiar to your system.

This is so powerful.

Why?

Well, what most of us REALLY want is not more things, more
prestige, more achievement, better relationships etc etc etc. It is to
FEEL safe, content, peaceful, happy.

In a culture where we experience capitalism on steroids on a
daily basis – and whereby the most effective selling tools are fear and
discontentment, cultivating the skill of deliberately feeling safe and
content is healthily counter-cultural.

We really encourage you to try this out for yourself.

Throughout the day, check in on how you are feeling.

If you are
rushing….overwhelmed….scared…anxious, take a few minutes to breathe
safety in through your heart or chest area, and contentment out through
your solar plexus.

If you do this will full focus, you will be amazed at the change in feeling, thought and perception you will experience.
